Vazco: Mainpage widgets not showing info to logged out users.

I'm having an issue where the widgets aren't showing information to non-logged in users. They're either blank or show language calls to language defines that aren't there. Things like "Latest Activity" and the "Quote of the Day" both show nothing has been submitted.

Is there a permission I need to set? I have a feeling it's a big reason I have no users on a live site that's been up for a month.

I noticed in my cached mainpage.php that there is if statement to test logged in status. Shouldn't this be configurable from Admin Tools or per widget? I mean options to allow all visitors, registered, or admin users to view them would be nice.

Edit: It seems as though the variables being passed and tested for content (e.g. "if($todays_quote)") are not being passed the information when the visitor is not logged in. Could this be an incompatibility with elgg 1.7.8?

Jay, I tested mainpage with our install of Elgg 1.7.9, it seems to run correctly. Did you have cache turned on? If so, please try turning it off.

We'll look into this problem more closely.
