It looks like a cool plugin.  It reminds me of something I saw on Classmates, but probably different.  It would be interesting to see this in action.  ...I will be purchasing some plugins, probably this month. 

On Classmates though, the timeline has to do with where you went to school, the timeframes, etc.  ...It may be interesting to come up with a timelines plugin that does something similar, for people to have on their individual profiles.  But, I think a general site-wide timeline is an excellent idea too.

This is a very nice and required idea, only thing is that the implementation here is a bit confusing. I would make the topics and details much more simple. (Like removing topic owner, and other labels)
